Hi everyone! I am back with another DIY project. I know, it has been a while. But today I am going to show you how I make my liquid African black soap that can be used as a face wash, body wash and shampoo! I love things that can be used in multiple ways and this product is perfect.
So let’s get straight to it!
Products You Will Need
Half a Block of African Black Soap
4 cups Distilled Water
1 cup Aloe Vera Juice
1 tbs of Shea Butter
1 tbs of Grapeseed Oil
10-20 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil
20 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil
20 drops of Lavender Essential Oil
A Bowl
A funnel
A bottle/container
A mixing Utensil
Watch the video below to see me actually make this DIY Liquid African Black Soap.
Let’s Get Started
I started off with half a block of African black soap. Why half a block? Because I used the other half in it’s normal form but got tired of using it that way. I had to take pieces from the block and then had to grab more because I would sometimes not grab enough, so with this liquid DIY I am able to just squirt how much I need directly out of the bottle. It’s less of a hassle.
I also only wanted to make one bottle of liquid soap, so one full bar was not necessary for me. If you would like to make more than one bottle, double or triple the quantity of each product as needed. 😊Step #1Prepare Your SoapCut up the black soap into smallpieces. Since I used soap that was some what already wet it cut up very easily. If you are using a brand new bar of soap then you will need a knife to cut up the African black soap into pieces.
Step #2
Pour in Liquids
Put the black soap into a bowl and pour water into the bowl. Then pour in your Aloe vera juice.I eye balled how much water and aloe vera juice I put in so just make sure that you pour enough to cover all of the black soap. < span style=”font-family: ‘courier new’, courier, monospace”>Step #3Wait for the Soap to Dissolve< span style=”font-size: 14pt; font-family: ‘courier new’, courier, monospace”>Let the liquids and the African Black Soap sit until it dissolves. It took about 2 hours for mines to dissolve completely, again because it was already soft. < span style=”font-size: 14pt; font-family: ‘courier new’, courier, monospace”>If you black soap is dry before you started this DIY then it could talk up to 24 hours for your soap to dissolve. So you can just keep it in the water over night. Step #4Add Oils< span style=”font-size: 14pt; font-family: ‘courier new’, courier, monospace”>After your soap has dissolved, you can add in your oils.< span style=”font-family: ‘courier new’, courier, monospace”>Essential OilsI start with my essential oils (tea tree, peppermint, & lavender.) You can add as much or as little oil as you would like. However, you should be careful with how much essential oil you use because it can have reverse effects. If you want your DIY liquid black soap to have a prominent smell then you should add more drops of lavender oil and peppermint oils. The measurements I use is just right for a prominent smell but if you are sensitive to strong smells cut those number in half. Refer to the top of this page for how much of each I put in this mix.
Grape Seed Oil and Shea Butter
- Then I add 1 tbs of my carrier oil which was grape seed oil.
- Scoop your shea butter out of the container and put it into a bowl. Then microwave it for 30-45 seconds or until it is melted.
- Pour the shea butter from the bowl into your 1 tbs measuring spoon and then pour it into your liquid mixture.
Step #5
Mix Mix Mix!!
Step #6
Pour Your Mixture into your bottle with a funnel
Take your bottle/container and your funnel and begin to pour your mixture into the bottle. (I brought my bottle from Sally’s Beauty Supply for about $3.)< span style=”font-size: 14pt; font-family: ‘courier new’, courier, monospace”>Be Careful Not To Overflow the bottle! (because that is exactly what I did lol)< span style=”font-family: ‘courier new’, courier, monospace”>Step #7Enjoy your new homemade bottle of liquid African black soap! 🙂Benefits of the products I used in this DIY Liquid Black Soap:African black soapis a gentle cleanser that contains shea butter.
