January is over!! Whoa, yet another another month is over before I even realized. This month I have been loving some food items, essential oils, and music. So, let’s get into it!
Check out the video of me explaining my favorites:
1. Kombucha & Probiotic Teas
This has high-key been a must for me! Every time I take a trip to my favorite place, Walmart, I have to grab at least one bottle of kombucha or sparking probiotic tea.
These teas have a fizzy/carbonated taste to them just like soda.
I personally don’t drink soda because it make me break out, so this is a great healthy alternative for me.
I typically get the brands Health Aid, Kevita and GTS.
These teas are super beneficial to our health and also have a very interesting taste. I believe it is a acquire taste but after you get use to it you will want more of it.
My favorite Kombucha is the Cayenne Cleanse! It has hints of ginger, cayenne pepper, and lime. It’s honestly so delicious.
What is Kombucha & what are some of its benefits?
“Kombucha is a fermented beverage consisting of black tea and sugar (from various sources, including cane sugar, fruit or honey) that’s used as a functional, probiotic food. After fermentation, kombucha becomes carbonated and contains vinegar, B vitamins, enzymes, probiotics and a high concentration of acid (acetic, gluconic and lactic).” (source)
Kombucha has soooo many amazing benefits y’all! Just to name a few:
1. Detoxifies
2. Improves Digestion
3. Cancer Prevention
4. Energy Enhancement
5. Weight Loss
6. Enhanced Athletic Performance
7. Mood Enhancement
What are some benefits of probiotic tea?
Just to name a few:
1. Powers Up The Digestive System
2. They Protect You During Flu Season!
3. Friendly Bacteria Produce Natural Disinfectants Which Stabilize Ph Levels (For The Ladies)
4. Helps Manage Stress
5. Alleviate Allergies
2. Multigrain Tortilla Chips
OMG, y’all! Not to be dramatic but these chips are so good. I feel like they put something in them to make them addictive. Like I really can’t stop eating them and they are also healthy so I have no shame! 😊
I first saw these chips in Au Bon Pain and decided to try them because they looked healthy with all of the seeds in them. After I tried them I was on the hunt for a big bag! I got this bag at Wegmans for a about $3 and they did not disappoint!
I have not heard of this brand until that day in Au Bon Pain. But it surely does live up to it’s name because these chips are very good. They have a salty taste to them so it doesn’t taste like bland healthy chips. I definitely recommend these.
3. Lavender & Peppermint Oil
Next, I have these amazing essential oils. I use lavender and peppermint oil for aroma therapy and as a fragrance.
Honestly, I don’t use any expensive aroma therapy machines.
I just take these two oils and put them on a napkin and put them across the
room from where I am sitting and this works like a charm!
What are the benefits of lavender essential oil?
1. Induces Sleep
2. Relieves Stress & Anxiety
3. Treats Respiratory Disorders
4. Improves Blood Circulation
5. Aids in Digestion
6. Boost Immunity (has antibacterial and antiviral qualities)
What are the benefits of peppermint essential oil?
1. Relieves Headaches
2. Boosts Energy
3. Releases Tight Muscles
4. Improves Mental Focus
5. Reduces Stomach Aches
6. Soothe Digestive Issues
7. Has Antimicrobial Properties
4. Lil Uzi??
So first I would like to say that I am an R&B kind of girl. Check out my November Favorites here for some songs that I enjoyed that month!
So, I came across Lil Uzi Vert at the end of December which is incredible to most people because he is also from Philadelphia. I would say that he is a mix or pop and trap, if that is even possible. I’m not too into trap so that is why I was unaware of his music.
Who is Lil Uzi Vert?
If you are not familiar, he sings the song “XO TOUR Llif3” that goes, “All my friends are dead push me to the edge.”
Yea, I know. That’s some graphic stuff.
So, you may be able to tell why I have not been to into checking out the rest of his music. You know when you know a song and hear it all of the time but you just don’t know who sings it? That is what happened with this song.
So, when my brother introduced me to him I was like who is this person??
He is a carefree black man that expresses himself in very interesting ways and I love it! He calls himself a rockstar. So he is very different and is not afraid to be himself. Something we should always aspire to.
When I actually went to listen to his new album “Luv is Rage 2”, I really liked it. This showed me to not judge a book by it’s cover! Some songs that he has on there are actually really motivational. Such as “The Way Life Goes (ft. Oh Wonder).” If you are going through a hard time I say take a listen to this song. The message is basically saying, if you are having a hard time in life don’t worry because things will get better.
I would say “How to Talk” is my theme song! Take a listen below.
“Take to me nice, take to me nice, or don’t talk to me at all.”
Tell me how you like his music! It is definitely out of the norm for me but I like it because it’s feel good music!
Is this your type of sound or are you into other types of music? Be sure to comment done below and let me know!
That’s All Folks
Those are all of my favorites for the month of January! This has been a pretty good month and I am happy with my new finds. Let me know what you have been loving this past month down in the comments below, I would love to hear it!
As always thanks for reading loves!
